| the old me. took some time out recently to check out my old entries on this sad, little blog. (i actually love it, but just complain because of the awful design and layout). i enjoyed rereading my thoughts at different life stages i've gone through these past few years. i am particularly awed at how quickly things have come and gone. i marvel also at how short our lives really are. i pray i am making the most out of mine. my life motto: to live with purpose and passion [all the days of my life]... sweet cheese, i am twenty-seven. it has [thus far] been one of the best. so much more to look forward to. i wrote this in '06: "I want my eyes to be connected to my heart to be a vessel for my limbs. " that statement still holds so much weight. my personal goal: progress, not perfection. | | |

| Nothing in life is free. Oh, but wait, this is. My apologies to Charles for not blogging about this opportunity sooner. Like I said earlier, my motivation to post on this thing is waning thin. I am aiming to start a clean blogging slate with a new website soon. If I ever get the time to do so. Ehhhh. Anyways, if you're anything like me and happen to be fascinated with innovation and faith, then you should check out the Idea Camp. It's a free hybrid conference--FREE!--complete with panelists (I'm one of them...go figure), guest facilitators, and ideas to marinate on in regards to faith, action, and innovation. Highlights: social networking and open source information. Hope to see you there. Stolen blurb from website: "The focus of this conference will be on the participants (yes, You!) and not on keynote speakers. We function under the belief that the crowd is always smarter and wiser than any one speaker. In fact, you are invited to create and refine some of the major components of the conference prior to the gathering itself via our web interface. You are welcome to suggest specific topics for our workshops (called Idea Sessions), leave comments, ask questions, share case scenarios for discussion, and even volunteer yourself to facilitate one of our Idea Sessions." http://theideacamp.ning.com/ | | |
| an early gift. thanks to Andy Blue Eyes, i'll be taking a weekend trip to seattle. best birthday gift ever! after having wrapped up an arduous 10-month long application process for grad school, i can happily say that i'm looking forward to living life again. the burden has been lifted and i can't wait for my love affair with seattle to begin. i have been waiting to visit the great northwest for quite awhile now and anticipate the chillier climate, quality coffee, and engaging with a community outside of los angeles. hurrah. it's unfortunate i don't have time to visit some friends in portland, but there is always another opportunity awaiting me...hopefully. the unlikely psalmist himself. he wrote this in response to the oxymoronic theology of prosperity-advocating churches: Psalm 23: A Prosperity Gospel Translation. 1 The LORD is my financial advisor, I shall not want. 2 He bids me lie down among hedged blue chips, he leads me beside quiet real estate deals with the Mayor, 3 He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteous tax avoidance (but not evasion!) for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of recession, I will fear no economic forecast, for you are with me; my put options and my currency swaps, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a portfolio for me in the presence of my enemies at the IRS. You anoint my Roth IRA with oil futures; my 401(k) runneth over. 6 Surely late model import sedan leases will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the social register forever. | | |
